Florist Care & Handling

Tulips are highly active cut flowers that continue to grow, stretch, and bend toward light even after being styled.

Unpacking: Keep the sleeves tightly wrapped around the bunches during initial hydration to ensure the stems lock into a perfectly straight form.
Hydration Setup: Give the stems a clean, sharp straight cut across the bottom (rather than an angle) to prevent them from absorbing water too rapidly, which can cause premature head splitting. Place immediately into clean buckets with shallow, cold water treated with bulb-specific flower food.
Conditioning: Hydrate in a dark, cold cooler for a minimum of 2 to 4 hours before removing the plastic wraps.
Design Note: Tulips are strongly phototropic and geotropic; design with room for the stems to elongate slightly, or pin them into place if using structured foam mechanics.
