Florist Care & Handling
Darwin Hybrid tulips are dynamically active cut flowers that continue to elongate and pivot toward ambient light sources even after being styled.
- Unpacking: Keep the bundles securely wrapped in their original paper or plastic sleeves during the initial hydration phase. This builds turgor pressure and locks the heavy stems into a perfectly straight form.
- Hydration Setup: Using a sharp, sterile knife, give the stems a clean, level cut straight across the base rather than a deep angle. This slows down rapid water uptake, preventing premature head splitting or rapid stem stretching.
- Water Management: Submerge immediately in clean buckets filled with shallow, cold water treated with professional bulb-specific flower food. Keep the buckets inside a dark, cold floral chiller for at least 2 to 4 hours before processing or designing.
