- Maturity Check: For the absolute best vase life, prioritize processing stems where the central nectaries have already fallen off and small green seed pods are starting to form.
- Hydration Setup: Strip away all low foliage. Using a sterile knife, score or slice the bottom 2 cm of the stem vertically to increase surface area for water intake.
- The Boiling-Water Dip: To prevent premature drooping and maximize durability, submerge the bottom 1–2 cm of the freshly cut stems into near-boiling water for 20–60 seconds, then immediately transfer them into deep, cool water treated with standard flower preservative.
