Florist Care & Handling
Astilbe is notoriously sensitive to air pockets and drought stress; it is a "thirsty" crop that will wilt quickly if left dry. Process stems immediately upon arrival by stripping away any lower foliage that will sit underwater. Give the stems a deep, clean 45-degree angle cut using a sharp knife or sanitized commercial shears, and submerge them instantly into deep, clean water treated with hydration flower food. For best results, allow them 24 hours in a cool room or chiller to fully saturate and plump up the feathery plumes before styling.
